The first time I saw them, I was but a boy,
The son of a merchant was I.
They pulled into Kingston while under full sail ©©
Emptied the treas'ry and blew up the jail,
Stopped at a tavern for wenches and ale,
And left on the afternoon tide.

	The crew of the Raven is comin' your way

Our second encounter was later in life,
When I was just sixteen years old.
Right before tea©time to Brighton they came ©©
Bringing relief for the sick and the lame,
Then just to live up to their devilish fame,
They spirited off all our gold.

Our final chance meeting was more than just that,
I led an armada to sea.
To search for the ship that had started this trend ©©
Used information from allies and friends,
To bring their degenerate spree to an end,
And bring recognition to me.

Then finally off of Antigua we met,
But things didn't go as I'd planned.
I boarded their ship in the midst of the fray ©©
Hell©bent for glory and seizing the day,
Then saw that my navy was sailing away,
So I signed on as one of their band!

And so just because of a naval retreat,
I changed my vocation that day.
No longer a gentleman, shaven and clean ©©
No bowing and scraping to Kings and their Queens,
More money and women than I'd ever seen;
If you can't beat them join them, I say.
